Domestic abuse is a problem in the lesbian, bisexual and trans women’s community – it happens just as regularly as in heterosexual relationships. But we aren’t talking about it with each other – there is a taboo that surrounds the issue, and that makes it really hard for members of our community to get the help they need.
We can all help to end this taboo, and make it easier for us to support each other and get help when we need it. We just need to talk to each other, and acknowledge that domestic abuse happens in our communities too.
Here are some easy things you can do to end the taboo:
- Watch our short film to understand more about how the taboo works
- Spread the word: link to our film on twitter and facebook, or email your friends about the website
- Are you a member of a group that lesbian, bisexual, trans and queer women attend, or do you get together with LBT friends? You can show our film in your group and chat about it afterwards. Find out more.
- Arm yourself with the knowledge to help. Read more about domestic abuse and make sure you know how to get help if you need it
